TMH Delivered Five 3ES5K Locomotives to Uzbekistan Railways

TMH plant in Novocherkassk (“NEVZ”) delivered five 3ES5K AC mainline freight electric locomotives to Uzbekistan Railways (“O‘zbekiston temir yo‘llari”).

The contract for this batch was signed in May 2020.

The customer ordered the latest modification of the locomotive: with a bi-axis traction control and an independent excitation of the traction motors. This allows for improved performance on volatile landscape (characteristic of railways of Uzbekistan), a capacity to haul heavier trains, and a better overall efficiency.

In 2018, Uzbekistan Railways already bought two 3ES5K.

As of August 1, 2020 NEVZ produced 1067 3ES5K electric locomotives; they operate at five Directorates of Russian Railways – Dalnevostochnaya, Krasnoyarskaya, Zabaikalskaya, Vostochno-Sibirskaya, Oktyabrskaya. They also operate in Uzbekistan. Locomotives of the series are produced in a two-section version (2ES5K) and a four-section version (4ES5K); the factory has also produced a one-section version (E5K). Today these machines are the most produced series of electric locomotives in Russia.

TMH is the only manufacturer in Russia to offer the full range of tractive rolling stock that includes electric and diesel locomotives of various power, configuration, power supply, and purpose.
